Privacy policy
Effective 17 October 2026 · Last updated 19 October 2026
The short version
- No account, no ads, no tracking across apps. Nothing we collect is linked to you.
- Your plans, recipes and journal are stored on your iPhone. We never see them.
- The app sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports so we can see what works and fix what breaks. Switch them off in Settings › Privacy.
- Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. No server sends them.
- If you write to us, we use your email only to answer you.
Who we are
Pizza Night is made by Zeus Apps B.V., a private limited company in the Netherlands, which is the controller for the little personal data this policy covers. Privacy questions: privacy@pizzanightapp.com. Everything else: support@pizzanightapp.com.
What stays on your iPhone
Everything you make in the app is saved in the app's own storage on your device:
- your pizza nights, schedules and their steps;
- recipes and dough settings (hydration, salt, yeast and so on);
- journal entries: ratings, the changes you tapped, notes and the photos you choose to add;
- settings such as units, temperatures, quiet hours and reminder wording.
This data never leaves your device unless you turn on iCloud sync or share something yourself. Deleting the app deletes it.
Photos
Pizza Night only sees the photos you pick for a journal entry, through Apple's photo picker. It does not read your photo library.
Notifications
Step reminders, the Live Activity and the widget are created on your iPhone from your plan. They are only about your dough, never marketing.
iCloud sync (Pro)
If you turn on iCloud sync, your data is stored in your own private iCloud database, run by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We cannot read it. Turn sync off in Settings at any time.
Purchases
Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never receive your name, card or Apple Account details. The app only learns whether Pro is unlocked.
Usage statistics and crash reports
To learn which parts of the app help and to fix what breaks, Pizza Night sends two kinds of anonymous data. Both are on unless you switch off Share anonymous usage and crash reports in Settings › Privacy; after that, nothing more is sent.
Usage statistics
Short events such as "plan created", "step done", "running late" or "bake rated", with coarse details only: the pizza style, the type of rest, a step's name, a star rating, or a count in a range like "2-3 pizzas". Never your notes, photos, recipe names or exact dates. Each event carries a random ID made on your iPhone that is not tied to you, your Apple Account or other apps, plus the app version, iOS version, device model and language. They go to PostHog, stored in the EU (Frankfurt). We build no profile of you and do not record your screen.
Crash reports
When the app crashes or freezes, a report of what the code was doing, the app and iOS version and the device model goes to Sentry, stored in the EU (Frankfurt). It contains no personal data from the app.
Why and how long
We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it (GDPR article 6(1)(f)), which is why it is easy to switch off. Your IP address is used to deliver the data but is not stored with it. We keep usage events for up to 12 months and crash reports for up to 90 days. PostHog and Sentry process this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
Apple may also share crash reports with us if you allow it in your iPhone's settings (Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Share With App Developers).
Shared recipes
A recipe link you share holds the recipe in the part of the link after the #. Browsers don't send that part to our server, so the recipe opens on the reader's device without us seeing it.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive what you send: your email address, your message and any attachments. We use it only to help you, keep it for up to two years after the conversation ends, and then delete it. Mail to pizzanightapp.com addresses is forwarded by Cloudflare, and our email provider stores it on our behalf.
This website
pizzanightapp.com sets no cookies, loads no third-party scripts or fonts, and uses no analytics. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes your IP address briefly to deliver the page and protect it from abuse.
Children
Pizza Night asks no one for personal data and is not aimed at children. The anonymous statistics above are the same for every user.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you (in practice, support emails; the usage statistics and crash reports cannot be linked to you), and you may object to how we use it. Write to privacy@pizzanightapp.com. You may also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
If this policy changes, we publish the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change affects what the app does with your data, the app will tell you before it applies.
